The Russian president Vladimir Putin says the world should not be dominated by one power as America’s unipolar vision of the world has failed. Putin said that the crisis in #Ukraine has evolved into a full-scale civil war, blaming Washington for backing the overthrow of former president Viktor Yanukovych.
Meanwhile, the Chief of General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov has warned that his country will retaliate against #NATO’s increased military activities near its border. He said that the Western military alliance is boosting its presence in the Baltic States as well as the Mediterranean and the Black Sea region. General Gerasimov said Russia would take retaliatory measures to counter NATO’s eastward expansion. Meanwhile, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has warned that #Russia is being pulled into a new #Cold_War with the US and its allies. “We are slowly but surely moving toward a second Cold War, which no one needs,” Medvedev said. Tensions between Russia and the #West have been escalating over the crisis in Ukraine.
