Karachi airport has been cleared of terrorists and the operation has been completed, Pakistan’s military said in a statement on Monday.
According to ARY News, Director General ISPR in a statement said that the security operation at Jinnah International Airport Karachi has been completed and the airport has been handed over to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
According to the authorities, airport operations will return to normal from 4:00 pm today.
Preliminary investigation report about terrorists attack on Karachi airport has been finalized and dispatched to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, sources said.
The attackers entered in the airport from two points of the old airport, the report said. The terrorists wanted to destroy all aircrafts at the country’s main airport to paralyse the civil aviation system of Pakistan but the Airport Security Force personnel stopped them, the report said.
Moreover, the staff and passengers stranded at Karachi airport have been transferred safely to hotels.
Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has summoned a high level meeting to discuss the law and order situation in Karachi.
Security forces killed 10 terrorists during the attack on Karachi airport, the hub of civil aviation of Pakistan.
In the airport attack 19 security men and other officials were killed and 25 injured.
Outlawed Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility of the attack.
